My blog is not a food blog. It’s not a parenting blog.
It’s my life, the highs and lows, the trials the errors.
The failures and successes.
Yesterday was one of those days where I wanted to give in. A day filled with soul searching, questioning and tears. Nothing bad had happened to make me feel this way, I just felt like nothing new was coming to me. I felt empty of ideas and inspiration. I wondered what I was doing and if it had a purpose anymore, or was I just churning out recipes and not reaching people anymore.
I put my heart and soul into everything I do and it drains me sometimes. A cup can’t stay full, it must empty to be refilled and this is like people. We need to give everything we have so we are totally empty and only then can we be refilled and ready to start again. It’s after the days like yesterday where the inspiration, the ideas, the dreams come to you and sure enough that’s what happened this morning.
I woke up thinking of people that inspire me and knew that’s what I should write about today. It always comes from the heart. I don’t write in advance and plan my content like so many bloggers do, I can’t. When I write is needs to be authentic and about what I feel now and what I want to achieve. I haven’t done sponsored posts either, so nothing I link to today is because I was paid, it’s because these people are amazing.
I have met and know two of these people personally. One I haven’t met or spoke to, but quite a lot of her story mirrors mine and I think she’s fantastic. They all are.
So here are three people I look up to because I think they are fabulous humans.
For my die-hard readers, you will have heard of Betty Wilson, as I do mention her a lot. She’s been my guiding star throughout my journey, always on hand with advice whether it’s what I want to hear or not. Truth is an amazing quality to have in a friend. It’s important to have people in your life who don’t just agree with everything you say, but challenge you instead. People who bring out the best in you by believing in you and not putting you down. If it wasn’t for Betty’s Pick and Mix book this blog wouldn’t have happened. Me and other ladies poured our hearts and souls into a book. A book that Betty saw would help us get rid of any past hurt, pain or anger and she was right. By writing down our demons and dark days, along with some laughs and great moments along the way, we all felt better. Not just better but revitalised and ready to take on the world! Betty knows how important she is to me and so many others. This is by no means an advertisement for anyone’s products or websites but I am going to give them a link because they deserve it so if you would like to find out more about Betty, the book or her blankets then visit her website.
Richard is an amazing man who against all odds has not only made a success of his own life, but has made it his mission to help as many people as he can be a success too. After one of the most unimaginable starts in life, he turned everything around and has written books and delivers speeches and boot-camps to help others. Yes, he does what he does for a living, but he doesn’t just help people who turn up to his events, or buy his books, he helps many people just for the fun of it. Me included. I didn’t know Richard personally, he had heard about my blog and wanted to help me grow. Not by spreading the word about the blog but me as a person. I wasn’t filled with confidence and self-esteem when I started my journey, far from it. With Richard’s help, through letting me attend a boot-camp of his entirely free of charge, I felt ready to take on the world and have delivered speeches myself since. Richard did this through no gain to himself other than knowing he had helped another person and that is amazing. Something that all three of my stars share. Rachaele Hambleton – Part Time Working Mummy.
I have added Rachaele to my list, even though we’ve never spoke or met, she doesn’t know me and I’m not one of her warriors – people who have fled domestic violence with her help. Rachaele is another fabulous person who has come through so much in her life and is dedicating it to helping others, for no personal gain whatsoever. I read her posts on Facebook and am in admiration at everything she does. A lot of her stories resonate with me as we seem to have a lot in common. A reckless past turned into something beautiful. She turns her anxieties everyday into another success overcoming her fears. A woman who was once a victim is now a shining light to so many other people in the same situation she was once in. Rachaele, you don’t know me but I have always wanted to tell you I think you’re great and what you do is marvellous. Her website is here.
I personally want to thank you all three of you for being amazing humans.
What is the purpose of this post if it’s not advertising three people and their products to you?
If it makes you click the links and view their websites - great.
If makes you think you can achieve anything you set your mind to - brilliant.
If it inspires you, to not only make something of your life, but to then help others succeed too – result!
